Herd Keeper collects only what it needs to run your farm. There is no account and no cloud backup today. We never sell your data.

Herd Keeper ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Herd Keeper mobile application and this website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use them.

By downloading or using Herd Keeper, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

Herd Keeper does not require an account today, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.

Farm Data

Herd Keeper stores all farm management data locally on your device in a private database that never leaves your device. This includes:

  • Goat records (name, breed, date of birth, gender, status)
  • Weight logs, health records, and vaccination history
  • Breeding and mating records
  • Farm tasks, reminders, and calendar events
  • Inventory records

Media Files

Photos and videos you attach to goat profiles are stored locally only.

Device Information

We may collect basic device information (operating system version, device model) for crash diagnostics and app stability purposes. This information is not linked to your identity.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Herd Keeper app
  • Diagnose crashes and fix technical issues

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Processing

All farm records are stored in a local SQLite database on your device. This database is private to the Herd Keeper app and is not accessible to other apps. You retain full access to your data even without an internet connection.

5. Third-Party Services

The Herd Keeper website does not currently use any third-party service that processes your personal data. If that changes (for example, when accounts or cloud backup become available), this section will be updated to name the service and link to its privacy policy before it goes live.

6. Data Retention

Your farm data is stored on your device for as long as you keep the app installed, and is removed when you uninstall the app. Herd Keeper does not retain a copy anywhere else.

7. Your Rights

The Herd Keeper website does not currently collect any personal information, so there is nothing on file for us to grant you access to, correct, or delete.

Your farm data is not something we hold. It belongs to you and lives only on your device, so there is nothing for us to export on your behalf. You can remove it at any time by uninstalling the app.

If this changes in the future (for example, when accounts or cloud backup become available), this section will be updated to describe your access, correction, and deletion rights over that data.

8. Children's Privacy

Herd Keeper is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the app or website, please contact us.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including:

  • Your farm data stays in a private, sandboxed database on your device, inaccessible to other apps
  • No storage of plaintext credentials or API secrets on the client

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example, when new features such as an account, cloud backup, or a marketplace become available. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
